Puerto Plata

Having just come back from Puerto Plata where I spent my vacation, I highly recommend visiting this colorful and lovely town. The people could not be more friendly. The small narrow streets are cute and colorful. Chocolate and rum are two staples from the Dominican Republic. If you want jewelry, the DR is known for Amber and Larimar. There is a store on the Main Street that makes beautiful jewelry.

We stayed at Lifestyle Holidays Hotels and Resorts. They have a huge property with different hotels on property as well as a vacation club and villas. They also have villas with up to 7 bedrooms.

This time of year the weather is truly lovely in the low to mid 80’s during the day and low 70’s in the evening. When it rained it lasted for a few minuets and then stopped. There are cruise ships that visit Puerto Plata on a regular day. We went into town twice and there were two ships in town both days. Trying Dominican food is a must.

Planning on going to the Caribbean, let me assist you with your plans. I have been visiting the Caribbean for 62 years and never get tired of it, especially in the winter when some warm weather is welcome.
